2019 KIA Sorento: Changed for the Better
The 2019 KIA Sorento has always been a strong contender in the competitive mid-size SUV segment. This year it’s just a bit stronger than usual and presents an even better value for SUV shoppers from Waukegan to Kenosha. Its value doesn’t stem from price, but from a strong feature set and great reliability. We expect it to have a good year at Classic KIA.
2019 KIA Sorento Details
The 2019 KIA Sorento was due for a refresh, and it gets one this year. The exterior is given a subtle redesign and new headlights (upper trims get full LED lighting). As before, each trim (L, LX, EX, SX, and SXL) comes standard with front-wheel drive, with the LX trim and higher having the option of all-wheel drive.
If you want a two-row SUV, you won’t find it here anymore; this year, it’s three rows or nothing. There are also two engine choices instead of three; we suggest the 280 horsepower V6 engine for its better power and acceleration, as well as the new eight-speed automatic transmission it’s coupled to.
2019 KIA Sorento Safety and Special Features
You get a lot of safety from new KIA SUVs. This one keeps the tradition alive with an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus and a five-star NHTSA safety rating. That’s due in no small part to features like lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, smart cruise control, and forward collision warning. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to have the V6 engine and a higher trim level to get them.
Lower trims get a seven-inch UVO infotainment display, upgraded to eight inches in the upper trims. Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ are standard, but here again, the upper trims get the good stuff (like wireless device charging).
