What is a Vehicle Inspection?
Like most states, Illinois requires a multi-point vehicle inspection. One of the most important components of that test — and the one that’s the cause of most failed inspections — is vehicle emissions. If your car was built in 1996 or later and is four or more years old, you’ll have to have it inspected every two years; likewise, if you drive a vehicle with a GVWR between 8,501 and 14,000 pounds built in or after 2007, you’ll need to have it inspected as well.
When you visit our KIA service center serving Kenosha WI, we’ll explain the inspection process in depth. Then, we’ll get to work inspecting your car’s systems and making sure they measure up to Illinois standards. If everything checks out, your vehicle will pass inspection and won’t need another for two years. If your vehicle fails inspection, we can schedule the needed repairs and then re-test.
The good news is, if you’ve recently bought a new KIA model, you’ve got a few years before you need it inspected. However, we suggest visiting us between now and then for routine maintenance — neglect is a big cause of failed inspections.
