At our Gurnee-area Kia auto dealership, we stock new 2016 Kia cars equipped with the latest technology like touchscreen-based infotainment systems that allow you to safely access features of your smartphone in the car. What’s coming soon that should excite drivers is the addition of driverless features paving the way for fully driverless Kia cars.
While driverless cars have been tested out on the road for a few years now, states haven’t developed any restrictions towards it until recently as more and more automakers have begun pursuing driverless cars. Some states have balked entirely, but other states like Nevada are all for inviting automakers into their state.
Nevada has recently allowed Kia a “driver’s license” to test out driverless car technology in their state where Kia plans to test out new technology through 2018. The current plan is to introduce some of these driverless features in 2020 with fully autonomous cars on the road near 2030. In the meantime, drivers may see a Kia Soul EV navigating the Las Vegas strip on its own!
Some of the technology Kia is developing includes a Traffic Jam Assist feature, a self-parking feature, autonomous driving on the highway and in town, and an emergency stop system. Their goal is also to allow cars to communicate with each other. This way, one car braking can easily signal this to the car behind it, so both cars slow down safely. Certainly many drivers wouldn’t mind putting their car into auto pilot during the rush hour commute.
While this technology is still a little ways off, you can find the latest Kia innovations at Classic Kia. Find high-tech Kia automobiles near Gurnee like the 2016 Kia Optima, 2016 Kia Soul, and many more!
