Kia & NBA Hand Out Community Service Awards

The NBA and Kia have been partners for a number of years now, and it’s a partnership that has resulted in a lot of really excellent things. It extends well beyond Blake Griffin dunking over an Optima, although that was admittedly pretty cool. Since 2001, our parent company has been giving out the Kia Community Assist Award to NBA players that have done great things for their locales, and so far this season that has included Wesley Matthews in Portland, Gerald Henderson in Charlotte, Rudy Gay in Memphis, Pau Gasol in L.A., and most recently Deron Williams in New York.

Williams has poured a lot of time and money into his Point of Hope Foundation, which supports children and families in need. Most recently, the foundation teamed up with an organization in New York City called “Neighbors Together” to help feed families left hungry in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

“I am grateful to be in a position to give back to others, especially given that there are so many different causes, so many different diseases, and so many people who have problems,” said Williams. “The Point of Hope Foundation is just about helping people in need, and kids, especially.”

We here at Classic Kia love that we’re part of an organization that cares so much about giving back to the community, and we know that our Libertyville Kia customers are on board with all the giving back these NBA players do, too. Those guys are in a great position to some serious good in the world, and Kia really seems to enjoy recognizing them when they do.
