Currently at Classic Kia we carry the 2015 Kia Soul near Libertyville: a fun and unique compact wagon that’s great for younger drivers and commuters alike. Kia also sells the 2015 Kia Soul EV, an all-electric model that is gaining in popularity. While only available in a few states, Kia is quickly trying to bring the model to more areas and making charging easier.
While exclusively available in California for some time, Kia has started to bring the 2015 Kia Soul EV to Texas, Georgia, Oregon, and Washington with hopefully more states on the way. To help customers concerned about places to charge on the go, Kia has partnered with Greenlots to build fast electric charging stations right at Kia dealerships.
There are 21 dealerships in those four states and around 40 charging stations are being installed in the Pacific Northwest. A fast-charging station can charge the 2015 Kia Soul EV in around 30 minutes.
Besides installing Level 2 charging stations, Kia also has another exciting collaboration in the works with a company called Mojo Mobility. Together they are developing a wireless charging system for the Kia Soul EV and other plug-in vehicles with support from the US Department of Energy. Without any connection, the vehicle is able to charge with 92 percent efficiency. The technology is still being developed, but should be available soon.
While the 2015 Kia Soul EV isn’t yet available at Classic Kia, we carry the 2015 Kia Soul along with efficient hybrids like the 2015 Kia Optima Hybrid.
