When there’s plenty of love to go around in a family, safety is the priority that stays seeded in our minds. That’s why our Kia dealership puts this matter at the forefront when it comes to our new Kia car selections. We’ve been very enthusiastic about the new 2016 Kia Optima, and we’re happy to report on how well the vehicle scored on rigorous safety tests.
As a recent entrant on Kelley Blue Book’s list of “Best Family Car of 2016,” the Kia Optima earned another accolade. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an organization which rates cars’ safety features, gave the highest marks possible to the new sedan. As a Top Safety Pick Plus, Kia Optima scored perfect points in five different crash tests, with a distinguishing superior rating for the front-crash prevention systems.
Those tests include a few “crashworthiness” types: small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints.
The 2016 Kia Optima features a large assortment of safety and convenience technology to assist the driver and their family on the move. A rear-view camera, ever helpful in backing up and parking, comes standard on every 2016 Kia Optima. The SX and SXL trimps step it up with a 360 degree view camera. The driver is empowered by a variety of systems, such as Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Front Collision Warning System, and a Lane Departure System. Additionally, Autonomous Emergency Braking activates at the right moment to bring the car to a complete stop, or slow it down to reduce collision damage.
This new Kia car has a long list of exciting features, but we’re glad that safety is a priority for this great family pick. We’d love to show you this and other models at our Waukegan Kia car dealership.
