Classic Kia

SEMA is a parts and auto specialty trade show held in Las Vegas in early November. For the event, automakers partner with parts companies and customizers to show off one-of-a-kind versions of their vehicles not meant for production. This year to celebrate the release of the redesigned 2016 Kia Optima the automaker displayed a very special version at the show.

In addition to concepts like an off-road ready 2016 Kia Sorento, the 2016 Kia Optima on display is equally unique. Painted a baby blue with butter cream interior, Kia turned the sedan into a convertible and gave it rear-hinge “suicide” doors. Plus, they improved the performance of the vehicles sports exhaust, a new suspension, and included their 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

While this was a one off model, there’s plenty to get excited about the 2016 Kia Optima sedans now available at Classic Kia. The 2016 Kia Optima has been fully redesigned with its own revamped look like a slimmer front grille, sculpted rear bumpers, and “futuristic” headlights. On the inside, the vehicle takes influence from the luxury Kia K900 with soft-touch materials. Plus, the controls are more streamlined.

In terms of construction, the vehicle now uses more than 50% high-strength steel that’s made the vehicle lighter and more efficient while also tougher. Kia designers have expanded the vehicle as well with every dimension increasing. That means more room to stretch your legs with even more trunk space.

Kia has added a new 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine while the 2.4L four-cylinder and 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engines return with better fuel economy than last year. The automaker has also introduced their first ever dual-clutch seven-speed transmission. It works like an automatic—you don’t have to do any shifting—but functions like a manual with smoother shifting and better fuel economy.
