Kia cars keep up with the latest in technology, and we’re happy to inform iPhone users about the newest updates. Classic Kia realizes how important touchscreens and infotainment services are to our drivers. They not only provide the user with important tidbits during trips, but they also perform several functions without distracting too much. This utility is key in helping drivers to avoid using their phones.
Some of the latest additions to the Kia car catalogue, specifically the 2017 Kia Sportage and the 2016 Kia Optima, will have Apple CarPlay® enabled. When the vehicles have the UVO3 or a similar navigation system, drivers will be able to download an update to have the car support their iPhones. This update is coming later this year.
Currently, the 2017 Kia Sorento is the only Kia car that supports this function. There are several advantages from having this technology on board: users are able to make phone calls, control music, write and read messages, and receive updated driving directions on the fly. And all this can be voice-controlled thanks to Apple’s digital assistant, Siri.
“The arrival of CarPlay® compatibility follows on a promise we made when Optima launched last year. These running changes and available downloads will seamlessly bring iPhone’s easy-to-use interface and functionality to our newest and best-selling models,” said Henry Bzeih, Managing Director Connected & Mobility Services, KMA, in a press release.
You can’t go wrong with our new 2016 Kia Optima, which is a quality midsize sedan that packs lots of features for a good price. The UVO eServices system is easy and convenient to use, with large virtual buttons on an 8-inch screen. The car also takes advantage of very good safety technologies like a standard rearview camera and an optional 360-degree view monitoring, rear parking sensors, and cross traffic alerts.
