Latest accolade marks EV9’s second Wards 10 Best award in its debut year

It’s been an incredible banner year here at Kia, with yet another award win! On September 11th, the Kia EV9 GT-line received recognition for being a 2024 Wards 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems winner, making this the second Wards 10 Best award for the EV9 in its first year on sale (previously awarded: 2024 Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX)!

The 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems category win evaluates all-new or significantly improved engines and electric propulsion systems. The scoring system for this award evaluates the system’s ability to perform in everyday life, including but not limited to observed fuel economy or electric efficiency. Amongst 34 other competitors, 25 of which were electric, Wards editors recognized the EV9 GT-Line’s powertrain for exceeding expectations and delivering real life practicality.

“This car rocks in performance mode, but you don’t really need to put it there. Normal gives you plenty and is a blast to drive,” said David Zoia, Wards contributing editor. “The performance is even more notable given this is a 3-row vehicle.”

Editors highlighted its impressive range retention, power generation, propulsion systems noise, vibration and harness, and its ability to handle wear and tear as a daily driver as significant positives!

The 2024 EV9 GT-Line is based on the E-GMP platform and is equipped with a standard 99.8-kWh battery and a dual-motor, 283-kW (379-hp) torque vectoring all-wheel-drive configuration providing up to 516 lb.-ft. of torque.
