Kia aims to to begin supporting the organization with an initial donation of $25,000, as well as partnering up for future opportunities. One such event is the 2016 Ladies Professional Golf Association Kia Classic, a sporting event that's coming up this March 24th through the 27th in Carlsbad, California. The car gets going to a full charge under three hours with a 240V charger. Additionally, the car provides opportunity to reserve the electric energy thanks to its plug-in hybrid mode select system, which allows driving exclusively on the electric charge, perfect for shorter trips. "As part of our bold initiative to increase fuel efficiency by 25 percent across the entire Kia model line-up by 2020, a plug-in hybrid was a critical addition to our offering," said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, Kia Motors America. The 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid further distinguishes itself from the regular Kia Optima with efficient aerodynamics. An active grille automatically opens and closes at high and low speeds, and additionally, the engine bay cooling is optimized. There are also several safety technologies to reduce potential risks, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, which brings the car to a stop if it detects an incoming collision, and Blind Spot Monitor and Lane Departure Warning System. The 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid is expected to enter Kia car dealerships near the end of 2016. Their exhaustive process involved considering safety, cost, and comfort. After identifying their top picks, the team extensively tested each vehicle for two weeks and narrowed the choices to 16, also subdividing them into categories. Under Sedans figures the 2016 Kia Optima, which is also Kelley Blue Book's Midsize Sedan Best Buy of 2016. The experts call it "refined, advanced, and rewarding to drive." Among its quality features, they tout a stylish look and seven airbags along a backup camera and hill start assist. DRIVE WISE will primarily help on the road by reacting and anticipating road conditions and hazards, in effect helping the driver enjoy the drive with less worry. There are several aspects that DRIVE WISE encompasses: Highway Autonomous Driving, which uses radar and car camera to detect highway lanes; Urban Autonomous Driving uses GPS to better navigate in accordance to traffic; Preceding Vehicle Following detects how close the car is to the vehicle in front of it and adjusts; Emergency Stop System looks out to see if the driver is too distracted and may pull the vehicle to an off-lane if needed. In addition, the system will facilitate interaction with the car with new functions like gestures, fingerprint sensors and better smartphone connectivity.
