Apparently, customers most look for innovation, whether that be consciously or subconsciously, and since Kia is top-notch in that respect, we probably shouldn’t be too surprised that things have gone so well for our two best-selling SUVs. Between 2009-2011, we released more new models than any other automaker, but we’ve spent the last couple of years working to fine-tune all those newer cars. We think we’ve now got a stable that people can really get on board with, and the ’13 Sportage and Sorento are, specifically, ones that folks seem to love. Anybody with the Kia Uvo infotainment system in their car knows what a great service it’s been for making hands-free phone calls and voice-controlled media usage, but however awesome those things may be, infotainment systems are expected to do more than that these days. That’s why it was so excellent to get all the great news at the L.A. Auto Show last week about some upcoming Uvo updates. We’ll just say this, folks; you can go ahead and quadruple you’re excitement. This is a whole new Uvo. more For starters, Kia’s infotainment system is going to rely a lot more on smartphone connectivity, which means bringing more content and more services to the car. There are an increasing number of great apps that work in conjunction with automobiles, and Uvo is going to be prepared to use all of them. It’s also going to link up with EServices like 911 Connect, which does exactly what it sounds like. That easy access to emergency help, though, can be valuable in the event of a crash or any of a number of other situations, and now all you need is Uvo and a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone to access it. We’re also looking at real-time traffic updates for the GPS as well as all the great stuff that the previous version was able to do. Infotainment systems have changed the way people enjoy their vehicles, and we want to make sure that the Uvo system does our great Kia cars and SUVs justice.
