We’re getting ready for holiday break with the kids by collecting all sorts of fun creative projects over the wintertime season.  To start things off, we’ve got an easy to customize DIY snow globe project!  Following that, we’ve got other great crafts and plenty of coloring pages for everyone to enjoy.  You’ll find lots of creative activities on today’s blog!  Plus, as an added bonus, most of these make great handmade gifts for loved ones and friends! more DIY Your Own Water Snow Globe What You Will Need: Recycled or new glass jars with matching tight fitting lids or snowglobe containers Optional: decoupage and paper, spray paint, or felt for Jar Lid Hot Glue or E6000 Epoxy Glue or Super Glue (both to be used by adults) Glitter and/or small sequins A small container of glycerin Miniature toy cars or miniature figures that fit on jar lids Distilled water How to Make It: Paint or decoupage your lid if desired. Arrange your decorations on the jar lid, and secure them with the glue.  Allow to dry fully (check glue container, tube, or glue sticks package for dry time.) Once your decorations are glued and dry.  Add your glitter or sequins to the clean, empty jar, add ½ teaspoon or so of glycerin to the jar, and pour distilled water into the jar until it’s just about full, leaving room for your decorated lid to fit inside. Add glue to the edge of your jar lid, secure it tightly to the top of the jar and allow the glue to fully set and dry (yes, your decorations will be upside down until the glue is fully dry and sealed!)  Add glue around the edges of the seal once the lid is applied. Once the glue is all dried and fully sealed, flip your jar over, and voila!! It’s a snow globe you’ve made all on your own! SNOW BANK VS VEHICLE Winter driving is tough enough without minor mishap sending you looking for a dependable body shop.  Winter’s extreme cold combined with the compact nature of something as innocent-looking as a snowbank pose serious threats to all plastic auto parts. more Winter snow accident featuring a car in a ditch on a snow-covered road. Winter's frigid temperatures leave plastic brittle. It cracks easily, without much pressure. Which plastic parts are most likely to crack or break during a run in with a snow bank? Front end air dams Plastic bumpers and plastic bumper covers Under-engine shields Wheel well liners Rearview mirror housings Headline lenses and trim Grill panels Fog lamps Fog lamp bezels A typical freeze/thaw cycle makes the snowbanks hard . Combine that with a slick surface and sliding while parking is a real threat. It’s the same with the snow banks piling up at the end of your driveway. In addition, those fluffy-looking snow drifts often mask even more threats – landscaping rocks, fire hydrants, etc. You can't always avoid sliding into a situation but you can get defensive. There is a lot written about defensive Driving, but none of it applies to Fluffy looking snow banks. It's only snow right? Wrong, plowing through that snow pile the plow left at the end of the driveway is like plowing through boulders of ice and can cause a lot of damage to the front bumper, Bumper air dams, grilles, fog lamps and engine under shields. Every vehicle and every snowbank is different. Cars ride low to the ground and it takes less to damage rocker panels, wheel wells and bumpers. SUVs and trucks have road clearance but they aren’t immune to ice and snow. A snowbank may be clean and soft-looking or ugly gray and foreboding. Either can hide a solid object underneath. Even snow jammed into the radiator can cause overheating and even more problems. The bottom line? As you pull into that parking spot, cruise a parking lot or bust your way into your driveway remember: Hitting a snowbank can be like hitting a stone wall. Ice is hard!
